Flagellation of a Female Samboe Slave via Bibliodyssey ARRRRGHHH! My dentist had this etching in his operating room when I was a child! I had to look at it constantly when I had to have (completely healthy) teeth removed (I had dreadful teeth and my mouth was too small for them - a cast of my teeth is still part of Zurich’s museum for dental history). He used to say that looking at something very painful and gross while undergoing a painful procedure would make your brain get used to the pain and accept it. I was 7 then and I thought he must be a man full of wisdom to wear such a supernaturally white coat. Now I know he was just a dirty twisted old man (why the hell would you become a CHILDREN’s dentist in the first place?! o_O)
